Except that, as the New Yorker article makes clear, “reasonable” for one person is not the same as “reasonable” for another. I’m fine with my registrar knowing I own a domain and where I live. I’m not fine with just anyone being able to look that up. IP lawyers think it’s totally reasonable to have access to that data. Law enforcement too. Is that reasonable?
